Christmas Dinner

Our family has always celebrated and had Christmas dinner on Christmas eve. I promise you I don’t think I found out that Christmas was on the 25th until I moved here! This year the Family got together and shared some good times and definitely some good food!

This is a plate of hayaca (venezuelan version of a tamales but ours are wrapped in plantain leaves), ensalada de gallina (Venezuelan chicken salad), arroz con gandulez (Puerto Rican rice with pigeon peas…I love this rice!), and last but not least, delicious honey baked ham. Everything was so tasty!

My family is from Venezuela and my sister’s husband and inlaws are from Puerto Rico, so for Christmas we had a good mixture of Latin food.

Of course we never forget dessert….desserts are always a priority (did I mentioned I am addicted to sugar in the form of desserts!)

We had chocolate eclaire (made by moi), arroz con coco, tres leches, and flan…oh man, I think I’m making my self hungry! :)

Here is my little brother Alex, probably feeling overly stuffed!

Good food and good times! I hope you had a Very Merry Christmas as well spent with family and friends.

Feliz Navidad…un poquito tarde!
