Well, I’m still training for the Louisville 1/2 marathon, although I must tell you my training started to go down hill real fast! Right around week 5 and 6 I got sick, I thought I had strep but it turns out it was just some funk that was going around.
I picked it back up on week 7 and ended up hurting my left knee on week 8…What is really going on! This turned into another two weeks of barely any running. My knee needed some much needed rest to recover, and with the help of a knee brace I was able to pick it up again….none the less with a little bit of pain, the brace however gets a little uncomfortable and rubs on the back of my leg after a couple of miles.
Last Friday I felt like I could finally try to run with out the brace. I did good, I felt good, but that was only a three mile run. Saturday morning I had a nine mile run ahead of me and I decided to go with out the brace again….what was I thinking! I was good to go at first, but right around the 3.5/4 mile mark I was in PAIN! I was bummed and dissapointed thinking I was going to have to stop, not to mention doubting my ability to be able to run the 13.1 miles on race day….which by the way I must mention that race day is this coming Sunday!
I kept running through the pain and saying a little prayer for God to take the pain away b/c I really wanted to finish my run. Slowly my knee started to feel better and the pain was more tolerable until the whole thing just went numb! and then I was good to go again and finish up!
Hey, works for me! Now the dilemma is what do I do on race day? Do I not wear the brace again or do I wear the brace that gets uncomfortable after a while? I need help, suggestions, comments, anything you got for me. what’s a girl to do?

Yesterday I went out to Keeneland Racetrack in Lexington, KY with the peeps from work. I didn’t win any money but also didn’t lose much…which is always good! We had a good time eating at the fancy shmancy Throroughbred club and then going over to the track. I really like Keeneland way better than Churchill Downs, it is really pretty out there. If you are ever in Lexington that is surely a place to visit.
The bitter sweet part of the trip is that it was also Lori’s farewell luncheon b/c her last day is today. :(
I told her I’ll be sad on Monday morning when I come to work and she is no longer here. I am however very happy for the good changes that God is bringing to her life!

Here is Lori! (in the black suit, next to me)

This is the second year in a row I receive flowers from the same client around the same date! Maybe the date thing is just a big coincidence…who knows! The note says “Remember to my company”, a.k.a. “remember my company”. He’s english is a little rusty. Check out the pretty flowers:

I never thought I would be doing a post on anything that had to do with golf! This year the Ryder cup is being held in Louisville. It’s a really neat opportunity for the city to be the host of this event, however, I am not loving all the extra traffic it is causing! You see, it usually takes me about 20 minutes to get to work, this morning it took me a total of 50 minutes to get to work! I was a sitting duck between the distance of two exits. A stretch that usually takes about 3 minutes or so took me 30 minutes today. Oh well, I guess I can live with it for a couple of days!

This is from the courier journal newspaper:
**An official from LG&E has stated at a mayor’s press conference that it will be between 10 to 14 days before all power is restored.
The remnants of Hurricane Ike pummeled the Louisville area yesterday with 70 mph winds that left at least one dead, several injured and hundreds of thousands without power.
The damage, which prompted Gov. Steve Beshear to declare a state of emergency, was so extensive that officials said thousands of residents could be without power for up to a week.**
The bad thing is that we are part of the group that has NO electricity!
so, how am I able to post this online you wonder?…well, I’m at work and here we do have power.
I’m hoping and praying that it won’t take that long to get the power up and going again.

Should be fun…..Hopefully. I know I’ll be glad I did it when it’s all said and done.
I’m hoping for no rain.

I ran into this information a while back ago and I’ve been calculating ever since….my mom, dad, sister, Chris, and me. I think it is important to have an idea of the amount of calories your body needs, that way if you are trying to lose weight you can be careful not to eat too little or too much.
here is the equation just in case you want to do some calculating:
Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches) – ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) – ( 6.8 x age in years )
This equation is used to give you a ball park figure of what your basal metabolic rate is (BMR). Your BMR is basically the number of calories (amount of energy) your body burns up just by you doing nothing. These calories are burned up by your basic body functions.
With this number you can calculate your AMR, which is your active metabolic rate. This is your BMR plus the amount of energy you need according to your daily level of physical activity. To figure out your AMR you’ll need to multiply your BMR number from above times one of the following numbers, according to which one fits you best:
If you are sedentary (little or no exercise): Multiply BMR x 1.2
If you are lightly active (light exercise/work 1-3 days per week): Multiply BMR x 1.375
If you are moderately active (moderate exercise/work 3-5 days per week): Multiply BMR x 1.55
If you are very active (hard exercise/work 6-7 days a week): Multiply BMR x 1.725
If you are extra active (very hard exercise/work 6-7 days a week): Multiply BMR x 1.9
This will give you a good overall idea of the number of calories your should stick to on a daily basis.
My BMR is 1,359 and my AMR is between 1,869 and 2,107…depending on my activity level.
